April 2017 - Travel Healthy

Hello you wonderful people!

Spring seems to be taking her sweet time in arriving in our part of the world. We are still having below freezing temperatures once in a while at night.

There was fresh snow on Savona Mountain when I looked out my kitchen window this morning.

Tips For A Healthier Enjoyable Life Healthy Eating While Traveling

We found ourselves at an all-inclusive resort in southern Mexico this winter. (They made money on us!! We don't eat any expensive animal products or drink alcohol!!) Airport Security at home, wouldn't let us take our blender in our carry on luggage. I couldn't imagine how we were going to survive for 2 weeks!

With our amazing organic Alfalfa, Olive Leaf & Green Stevia powders in hand, we set off in search of sun, sand and a way to keep eating green at the same time. I was determined to rely on more than just my pH Happy Caps. They are awesome, but I have got to have my "green stuff"!

Turns out that the state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico is mostly organic and the place we stayed at bought the local produce. Bonus for us! It was easy to tell the organic, locally grown difference by the fabulous taste and texture. The bananas, strawberries, papayas, avocados, tomatos, oranges & grapefruits were spectacular!!

The solution to our "lack-of-blender" was to cut up the fruit in a bowl and add our "green stuff", mix and eat. It tasted good, just chunkier than at home. Eating "green stuff" is a great way to start a conversation with strangers. Seems everyone around us was curious as to what on earth we were eating! Several people asked questions, and one awesome lady we met in Mexico (from the Vancouver area) bought some of our "green stuff" at The Vancouver Wellness Show two weeks later.

We met loads of interesting folks at the all-inclusive buffet and were known by the serving staff as the "hot water and lemon people".

So my tip is, no matter how prepared you are for a healthy, sun-drenched vacation, taking your "green goodness" in capsules may be the best option while traveling!

Either that or put the blender in your checked baggage. We only do carry on baggage, so that wasn't an option for us.

p.s. if you decide to go to Huatulco in southern Mexico there is an amazing English speaking tour guide. He will give you the best rates and his tours are very informative. Edgar will even create "customer tours" for you if you share what your interests are.

Healthy Healing Option

We recently had a customer phone in who wanted to purchase some of our products and during the conversation she mentioned that a friend of hers was suffering with a very large boil. I offered a solution that I learned from Phil years ago. This poultice had benefited me and our kids on several occasions. Phil has even used it on horses and dogs with great success.

Here is the recipe:

  • Take a bar of soap. Add a few drops of water to it, just enough to make a thick paste.
  • Sprinkle 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of sugar into the water.
  • Take a regular knife and swipe it back and forth several times until the sugar dissolves and blends well with the soap.
  • Place this thick mixture on the boil/infected area.
  • Cover with gauze.

My recommendation is to do this before bed so the poultice can work its magic over night. I spoke with our customer the next day and the poultice had worked its magic! This tip is inexpensive, almost always available to make anywhere, anytime plus it works! What else can you ask for?
