March 2017 - The Caffeine Conundrum

Hello you amazing people!

Life is good! It is a privilege to be associated with wonderful people such as yourselves.

Thank you for being you.

Smile a lot, it does your heart good!

Caffeine Conundrum

Caffeine ConundrumThere are many things we do day in and day out that are having a negative effect on our body. I like to look for ways to enjoy every aspect of life but, I like to make choices that benefit me.

I confess, I was a caffeinated tea drinker. I went from Orange Pekoe to what I thought was a healthier choice, Green Tea. Then I found out that Green Tea can have more caffeine than Coffee, and I know what Coffee did to my stomach. Yuck! A bit of research explained why.

Caffeine/Coffee is associated with:

Heartburn, Diarrhea, Ulcers, IBS, Acidosis, Reduces Mineral Absorption, Affects how the Kidneys are able to retain Calcium, Zinc & Magnesium, Stress, Tension, Insomnia, Nervousness, Restlessness, Irritability, Stomach Upset, Fast Heart Beat, Muscle Tremors.

I have also seen it reported to negatively impact how the intestines are able to take up nutrients.

One report stated that the darker roasted coffees have higher Acrylamide which has the potential of being carcinogenic.

One of the best ways to hydrate your body is with cool water or hot water (not boiled) with a fresh squeeze of lemon juice. This is a very refreshing drink. It aids in the elimination of acids & mucous too.

For those occasions where one might like another flavor I suggest an herbal tea. But don't be fooled, many herbal teas have caffeine in them.

Most people seem to cite the fact that they NEED their beloved cup of coffee to give them energy. I have had many testimonies from folks who have decided to get alkaline and have given up their caffeine fix.

They find that taking a daily serving of organic alfalfa leaf powder has given them the energy boost they need WITHOUT the crash.

Suede Hills has five different caffeine-free herbal teas, including Stevia Bark with Alfalfa Leaf.

Remember it is the little things you do consistently that give you the results you have now.

Want different results?

Then you need to tweak those habits to ones that serve you, not hinder you. Love yourself, you're awesome!

p.s. I have noticed over the years, at the Farmers' Market, that more and more men are choosing caffeine-free teas. Their favorites seem to be our Chocolate Mint with Stevia Bark (tastes like a mint patty) & Olive Leaf with Stevia Bark (tastes like green tea but without the caffeine)

All of our caffeine-free herbal teas have many benefits for your body & your taste buds, too! Do yourself a favor and give yourself a break.
